Zac Efron gave fans what they've been looking for after an incident in a swimming pool in Ibiza landed him in the hospital.
One, a message of reassurance that he's OK. Two, photographic evidence.
"Happy and healthy," the High School Musical alum wrote on his Instagram Stories Aug. 4, sharing a photo of himself lifting a pair of weights while lying shirtless in a pair of swimming trunks on an exercise ball on a deck. "Thanks for the well wishes."
Efron's entrepreneur friend Caleb Davidge also shared a selfie showing himself with the actor standing shirtless in the same location, adding two weightlifter emojis.
Efron, who is known for his muscular physique, was hospitalized the night of Aug. 2 as a precautionary measure after a "minor swimming incident" at a villa on the Spanish island, his rep told TMZ. The outlet reported that the 36-year-old was released the following morning and was doing fine.
E! News had reached out to the Baywatch star's rep for comment at the time and did not hear back.
Efron, who does not post on social media often, has been vacationing in Ibiza and surrounding areas for the past couple of weeks as part of a larger European trip that has also included stops on the Greek island of Mykonos and Paris, where he attended the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony.
During his time in Ibiza, he met up with another longtime friend, Martin Garrix. Efron joined the Dutch producer onstage behind the DJ booth at his show at the beachfront Ushuaïa Ibiza venue.
Efron, who had played a DJ in the 2015 comedy film We Are Your Friends, has also sparked health concerns in 2013 after he suffered an accident at home that resulted in a broken jaw.
Then in 2019, he became ill while filming in Papua New Guinea and was airlifted to a hospital in Australia, the local Telegraph newspaper reported. Efron later thanked fans for their well wishes, saying on Instagram he "did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G."
